Erzsébet Dobó, wife of Károly Zádori, was an active part of the vineyard work for decades. The world of the vine was especially close to her heart; working among the vines was not merely a task but a genuine joy. Her remarkable diligence and perseverance remain exemplary to this day. She plays a defining role in holding the family together, in organising daily life, and in the careful tending of their home and garden, while her hospitality and wonderful cooking have created a warm, homely atmosphere for generations — and still do today.
Our Family
Our family has lived and worked alongside the vines since the 1950s. Our estate and winery are in Szeged, where the fourth generation now carries on the tradition.

First generation — János Zádori · 1950
"The land gives back what you put into it."
The story of Zádori Pince reaches back to 1950. The foundations of the family tradition were laid by János Zádori, who at that time held something rare in Szeged — his own vineyard: four holds of foot-cultivated Kövidinka. He sold the wine made from these grapes at the “Bögrecsárda” that stood on the site of our cellar, still in operation today. This is where it all began.
Second generation — Károly Zádori · 1965
"Good wine is no secret — patience, attention, and a good year."
The family tradition was carried on by the second generation, Károly Zádori. His life was shaped by farming — above all livestock — yet the vines and wine were ever-present in daily life. It was he who built the cellar that still operates today, placing the family winery on new foundations. In the 1990s new plantings began, expanding the vineyard to 16 hectares. This was a time of growth, of building, and of faith in the future.
Third generation — Károly Zádori Jr. · 1998
"Staying in the market means earning trust again every single year."
For the third generation, Károly Zádori Jr., farming was always a natural part of life. During the vineyard plantings of the 1990s, the decision was made: vines and wine would take centre stage. In 2009 he reopened the wine bar that had operated in the '60s and '70s, and it has welcomed guests ever since. Throughout this time the cellar was in constant development: the processing facility was renewed, new machinery and tanks arrived, and a bottling plant was built. Although 2 hectares of vines were grubbed up, progress did not stop: in spring 2026, 4 hectares of new vines were planted, growing the estate to 18 hectares.
Fourth generation — Bálint Zádori · 2025
"Our heritage is not a burden — it's a wing."
For the fourth generation, Bálint Zádori, the vines and the cellar were a natural environment from childhood. It was decided early that this would be his path: he spent much of his time both in the vineyard and in the cellar. He graduated as a viticulture and oenology engineer in Budapest, and now puts that knowledge to work on the family estate. In the 2025 harvest the two of them made the wines together, bringing fresh momentum to the cellar. The focus has also broadened towards bottled wines and sparkling wines. With two generations working actively together, there is more time for everything: planning, experimentation and growth. The story of Zádori Pince thus not only continues — it is built, deliberately, towards the future.
The Women of the Family
Yet the story of Zádori Pince is not only one of heritage passed down the male line. The women of the family have always played a defining role in the life of the estate, contributing to the cellar's growth through their work, their perseverance and their care.
Magdolna Elő, wife of Károly Zádori Jr., did not originally come from the world of viticulture and winemaking, yet she soon saw its beauty and value. Over the years she has become an indispensable part of the estate's daily life: from pruning onward she takes part in many vineyard tasks, and she also plays an important role in the wine bar and in sales. With her kindness, warmth and dedication, she contributes day after day to making Zádori Pince not just a winery, but a family-run, welcoming place.
The story of Zádori Pince has thus been shaped not only by the generations who worked in the vineyard and the cellar, but also by the women who, through their work, their support and their love, became an inseparable part of the family's legacy.
